From Bremen to Tbilisi: Kopf + Lübben Delivers Lifesaving Ambulances Across Borders

The multi-country road transport required precise coordination, specialized handling, and close collaboration with medical equipment partners

Kopf & Lübben GmbH, a Coop member in Hamburg, Bremen, and Frankfurt, Germany, recently completed a complex door-to-door transport of five fully equipped Toyota Landcruiser ambulances to Tbilisi, Georgia. The airfreight export team took over to organize this shipment. While the route itself was demanding, the mission behind it made the project especially significant: delivering lifesaving medical solutions to where they are urgently needed.

Each ambulance was outfitted with advanced medical technology, and the vehicles carried critical onboard systems, including ventilators, defibrillators, patient monitors, and other emergency-response equipment designed for immediate deployment in the field.

Although airfreight would normally be the preferred mode, the team took a solution-first approach. “While we’d usually prefer cargo flying, we wanted to make sure that our client receives the best solution possible, and in this case, it was taking it on the road,” explained Adam Hoffmann, Project Manager at Kopf + Lübben.

The ambulances themselves were professionally converted by Royax, the specialist manufacturer responsible for transforming the Toyota chassis into fully functional emergency vehicles. Coordinating multiple stakeholders across borders required precise planning, reliable partners, and constant communication. What truly set this project apart was collaboration. By leveraging strong relationships with local specialists and trusted partners along the route, Kopf + Lübben ensured smooth execution from pickup to final delivery in Tbilisi.

“This project shows what’s possible when logistics expertise, local knowledge, and the right partnerships come together,” Mr. Hoffman noted. “It’s about more than transport, it’s about enabling healthcare where it matters most.”

Congratulations to Kopf + Lübben for this remarkable achievement and all the best for their future endeavours!

SI Freight Pvt. Ltd. Successfully Delivers Time-Critical Furnace Melting Project to the Middle East

Managing cargo from India’s East, West, and South Coasts, they executed the Door-to-Port movement of 2,000 FRT using nearly 30 open-top and flat-rack containers.

SI Freight Pvt. Ltd., a Coop member in Delhi, India, has completed a high-stakes Furnace Melting Project involving the movement of specialized EGA machinery and furnace equipment from multiple Indian origins to the Middle East. The project demanded precise coordination, tight deadline management, and expert handling of heavy and irregular cargo. With shipment origins spanning the East Coast, West Coast, and South Coast of India, SI Freight managed a total volume of 2,000 FRT, comprising approximately 30 open-top and flat-rack containers, under Door-to-Port terms.

What made the operation particularly challenging was the combination of extremely tight timelines, last-minute packaging requirements, and the need for flawless container planning. Despite these constraints, the SI Freight team executed the project with accuracy and control across every stage of the logistics chain.

“Our focus from day one was planning down to the smallest detail while remaining flexible enough to respond to last-minute changes,” said Mr. Harpreet Singh, Head of Operations at SI Freight Pvt. Ltd. “Projects like this don’t allow room for assumptions. Every movement, every lift, and every connection point had to be accounted for in advance.”

SI Freight handled the complete logistics scope internally, ensuring continuity and accountability throughout the operation. This included factory-to-port trucking across multiple Indian regions, on-site packaging and cargo protection carried out under strict time pressure, and expert CFS handling for heavy and odd-dimension equipment. Additionally, ocean freight coordination was executed on strictly scheduled vessels, requiring close alignment with shipping lines and port authorities to maintain delivery commitments.

Despite the operational complexity, they completed the project with measurable results: on-time delivery at destination, zero cargo damage, and no cost overruns.

Congratulations to SI Freight and all the best for their upcoming projects!

Antwerp Shipping and Forwarding Company moves a shipment of 2475 pipes to Iceland for a power plant project

By utilizing Antwerp as a strategic transshipment hub, they successfully reduced transportation costs by 25%

Antwerp Shipping and Forwarding Company NV, a member of The Cooperative Logistics Network in Antwerp, Belgium, has successfully transported 2,475 pipes for a power plant project in Iceland. The strategic logistics planning resulted in a 25% reduction in overall transport costs by utilizing Antwerp as a transshipment hub.

The shipment consisted of pipes of varying diameters, each measuring 12 meters long. The total weight of the cargo reached 2,474 tons, with a total volume of 3,169 m³. Initially, the pipes were loaded as breakbulk cargo at the port of Caofeidian, China, on the COSCOL liner vessel, MV Chang Shun 2, which was booked for delivery to Antwerp.

“We chose Antwerp as a transshipment hub due to significant cost savings,” said Kenny De Wit. “Chartering a vessel directly from Caofeidian, China, to Iceland would have been prohibitively expensive. By utilizing a liner service to Antwerp and then chartering a vessel to Iceland, we managed to lower overall transport costs by 25%.”

Upon arrival in Antwerp, they temporarily stored the cargo at the Zuidnatie terminal, quay 118, where the pipes were sorted by diameter. Antwerp Shipping and Forwarding Company then chartered the MV NM Copenhagen for the next leg of the journey, ensuring smooth transport from Antwerp to Thorlakshofn, Iceland.

The company’s scope of work included receiving the pipes at the appointed terminal, overseeing the sorting process, conducting surveys during discharge and loading, handling customs clearance as bonded cargo, and ensuring the pipes were securely lashed and fastened before the final voyage.

Congratulations to Antwerp Shipping and Forwarding Company for pulling off this complex project and all the best for their upcoming endeavours!
