From launching a new RoRo gateway in Central Vietnam to handling high-value vehicles and supporting manufacturing exports, Headway continues to strengthen its end-to-end logistics capabilities

Headway Logistics, a member of The Cooperative Logistics Network in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, is strengthening its position as a logistics partner for Vietnam’s growing manufacturing and automotive sectors, with a series of recent projects demonstrating its ability to coordinate complex cargo movements across domestic and international supply chains.

From successfully coordinating the first Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessel call at Chan May Port to managing the subsequent delivery of electric buses to Thailand, Headway has played a key role in developing new automotive logistics connectivity from Central Vietnam. At the same time, the company has continued to support the transportation of specialized vehicles, including a Lotus Evija, as well as the export of engineered flooring from Vietnam to Europe. Together, these projects highlight Headway’s ability to provide tailored logistics solutions for different types of cargo while connecting Vietnamese manufacturers with international markets.

Opening a new RoRo gateway in Central Vietnam

A major milestone came in September 2026, when Headway Logistics successfully coordinated, in cooperation with NYK Line, the first RoRo vessel call at Chan May Port in Hue City. The arrival of M/V Lord Vishnu, operated by NYK Line, marked the launch of a new sea-based automotive logistics route from Central Vietnam to Thailand. The inaugural shipment consisted of nine electric buses manufactured by Kim Long Motor and transported from Chan May Port to Laem Chabang Port.

Headway served as the key freight forwarding partner, coordinating operations between Kim Long Motor, NYK Line and Chan May Port authorities to facilitate the safe and timely movement of the vehicles. The new route provides an alternative logistics gateway for automotive manufacturers in Central Vietnam, which have traditionally relied heavily on major ports in northern and southern Vietnam for the import and export of completely built-up vehicles.

“The launch of the first RoRo service from Chan May represents an important step forward for automotive logistics in Central Vietnam. It demonstrates what can be achieved when manufacturers, carriers, ports and logistics providers work closely together. Our role is to bring these different elements together and create reliable, efficient supply chain solutions that can support the international growth of Vietnamese businesses,” said Felix Nguyen, Managing Director of Headway.

Coordinating the bus delivery from Vietnam to Thailand

Following the successful departure from Chan May, Headway continued to coordinate the shipment through its destination operations at Laem Chabang Port, Thailand, working closely with NYK to ensure the smooth discharge and delivery of the electric buses. Headway’s logistics professionals were present on the ground in Thailand throughout the operation. Before the vessel arrived, the team met with NYK representatives at the carrier’s Laem Chabang office to review shipping documentation, unloading procedures and the operational schedule.

At the terminal, Headway coordinated directly with the operations team, monitoring the receiving arrangements, vehicle staging areas and movement of the buses. Once unloading began, Headway and NYK representatives remained on site to oversee the discharge operation. Each bus was carefully driven from the RoRo vessel’s vehicle deck to the terminal yard by professional drivers, allowing the Headway team to monitor the condition of the vehicles following their sea voyage and provide the customer with visibility throughout the process.

The buses were subsequently transferred safely to the designated staging area, completing the delivery operation in Thailand.

Specialized handling for a high-value electric hypercar

Headway’s automotive logistics expertise also extends to specialized and high-value vehicles. Through the Tasco Headway ecosystem, the company recently coordinated the transportation of a Lotus Evija, an all-electric hypercar, from Hai Phong to Singapore.

The complete vehicle was transported in a dedicated 20-foot container. Given the vehicle’s specialized requirements, Headway developed a detailed loading and securing plan covering the vehicle’s dimensions, weight, positioning and protection during the sea voyage.

The team coordinated with shipping lines to determine the appropriate transportation solution and vessel schedule, while specialized lashing and securing techniques were applied at designated anchoring points to minimize movement and vibration. Critical areas of the vehicle, including the tires, body panels and exterior components, were also inspected and protected before shipment.

The project forms part of Headway’s wider experience in handling complete built-up vehicles and supporting international automotive brands, including BMW, MINI, Kia, Mazda, Hyundai, Peugeot, Geely and MG.

“Automotive logistics requires much more than simply moving a vehicle from one point to another. Each shipment has its own technical, operational and handling requirements, particularly when dealing with electric, premium or high-performance vehicles. Our teams combine detailed planning with hands-on execution to ensure that every stage of the transportation process is properly controlled,” Felix Nguyen added.

Supporting Vietnamese manufacturing exports to Europe

Headway’s capabilities extend beyond automotive logistics, with the company also supporting Vietnamese manufacturers as they expand into international markets. In June 2026, Headway managed an engineered flooring export project from a manufacturing facility in Vietnam to Antwerp, Belgium. The shipment involved four 20-foot dry containers and required coordination across domestic transportation, export customs clearance and international ocean freight.

Headway’s scope included trucking, export customs clearance, Certificate of Origin procedures, fumigation, phytosanitary certification and international freight services. The project also involved the use of two shipper-owned containers manufactured by the customer, integrating the customer’s production process directly with its export logistics operations.

Connecting customers with global markets

Across these projects, Headway is demonstrating a broader approach to logistics that goes beyond individual shipments. Its involvement spans factory construction, inbound materials, production requirements, finished-product exports and specialized automotive transportation. The combination of freight forwarding expertise, local operational knowledge and international partner relationships enables Headway to design logistics solutions around the specific requirements of each customer and cargo type.

“These projects reflect the direction in which Headway is developing: combining strong local execution with international connectivity and specialized logistics expertise. Whether we are moving electric buses, high-value vehicles or manufactured products for export, our objective remains the same: to provide customers with dependable supply chain solutions that support their growth in global markets,” said Felix Nguyen.

As Vietnam continues to strengthen its role in regional manufacturing and international trade, Headway Logistics is positioning itself to support this growth through increasingly integrated logistics solutions covering automotive transportation, project cargo, international freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution.
